BEFORE: Five years ago I was invited to an essential oil class. I didn’t go (‘cause pfft, oils? trendy. placebo. snake oil. No, I don’t want to go to your party). But a friend brought me a mini sample, so I gave it a whirl. A week in and I noticed I had more energy, a bit more clarity, and was waking up earlier — um, what??? So, I beta tested and became a closet oil user for the next year (‘cause again, oils?).
NOW: Half a decade later and I can’t shut up about them — clearer skin, smooth digestion, improved focus, sweet deep zzz’s, little emotional pick me ups, and reducing the toxins in my home. They’re not a cure-all but they’re a darn good tool every modern lady should have.

Not all oils are created equal — there are different grades of purity, effectiveness, and sourcing practices. There is no regulatory agency for essential oils. Meaning a bottle labeled “100% pure” can be filled with 10% essential oil (even synthetic forms) and the remaining 90% fillers (including fillers with pesticides) and it does not have to be labeled on the bottle. Um, yikes is right! No, I don’t buy oils from the natural food store — no comparison.
Sourcing matters — many companies source essential oils from regions of the world where 1) the plant is not native (chemistry of plant is not as powerful), 2) the plant is not grown/sourced sustainably, or 3) the farmers and communities are not given a fair market price for their work. Social + environmental responsibility is massively important to me.
The oils you’ll receive — are from doTERRA. There are a lot of good essential oil companies out there, but through a ton of research and testing, this is the one company I love, trust, and personally use. They use 3rd party testing to ensure every single liter of oil is pure, potent, and effective, plus their co-impact sourcing model is beyond what I could hope for with integrity.
